Top 3 restaurants of Berlin at the water
Its hot summer in Berlin, so here is a list of best restaurants of Berlin at the river Spree, directly at the water.
KATERSCHMAUS
It’s on my top list for many reasons. First of all, the food is amazing. I suggest to go for a 5-course menu, you will be delighted at the level of the cuisine. Refined and innovative. Second, you can ask them for a vegetarian or vegan menu, if you ask in advance and won't be disappointed. The service is great, and the people who work there are very friendly. Its perfect restaurant for the summer, as it’s terrace is directly on the water and you have a great view over the River Spree and the TV Tower. And after dinner you can go have a dance in their club next door (KaterBlau).
GRILL ROYALE
Restaurant for those of you who fancy atmosphere with white sheets on the table, good service and a good steak. A place to see and be seen, where celebrities go to when they are visiting Berlin during movie premiers. The restaurant is primarily a steak restaurant, and is considered to have the best steak in town. The wine selection is impeccable. They have a limited amount of tables at the water so book in advance.
FREISCHWIMMER
For those of you who want to avoid fancy audience, and would rather chill somewhere relaxed at the water, go to Freischwimmer in Kreuzberg. You can’t sit closer to water than here, here you have a feeling as if you are somewhere in the middle of Thailand because of the tree branches falling into the water. Across the water, you have the bar Club Der Vissionnaire, from where you can hear the music. Cuisine is mostly German. For those who love Aperol Sprtiz like myself, if you are with friends, order a 'Karaf' of Aperol Sprtiz, and you will get a whole liter of the drink to share. Its a fun place for a summer evening, and afterwards you can go dancing to IPSE which is the open air club next door.
