Kennedy’s speech meant a lot to Berliners at the time, and so the former president is held in high regard here by locals up to this day, without regard to personal political opinions.

Today Wilmersdorf is known for the high life quality it offers, and as a family friendly area with renowned schools such as the international Nelson Mandela School around, in which classes are taught bilingually in German and English.
