The building at Torstrasse 140 is a well-known address in Berlin. This address is so iconic it even has its own hashtag on Instagram, as those who got the chance to be invited there, could not help but admire the rooftop pool. The 20-meter rooftop pool is one of the biggest in a residential building in Europe. This address is iconic not only because of its magnificent rooftop. It is also a protected landmark. It was built in 1911/12, and during the GDR times, it was housing the Railway Directorate. Some of the historical elements of those times were preserved by the Carlos Zwick architects during the extensive refurbishment in 2001 when the building was turned into residential homes. For example, the common spa area on the ground floor is built in the historical assembly hall of the Directorate. As well you find details from the past in the penthouse itself. An old wheel to pull documents and files between the different levels is still there.

Many who have kids in Berlin today are faced with the Kita-Problem, meaning a problem of finding a space in daycare. According to a report from Federal Miniterin for Family Affairs Franziska Giffey, Berlin is missing 3000 daycare spaces.
However, thanks to the new law, the local government will take measures starting next year in order to solve this problem completely. The program is planned until 2022 and it includes measures such as attracting skilled stuff through increasing salaries and providing training, improving quality of service and expanding Kita capacities.
